Check out the waste-reducing magic that goes on in some of the most forward-thinking kitchens in various neighborhoods in DC. On our tours, you’ll hear directly from restaurant management about how they minimize waste, keep their dining rooms sustainable and discover amazing flavor profiles along the way.

Can’t wait? Take the virtual tour of our first walk in the fall of 2018. Because we rely on restaurants to donate the food and the time, each tour happens only once and we usually have a waitlist. Make sure to follow us on social media to get your tickets as soon as they’re available!

Contact us to get the scoop on our next tour before we tell everyone else.

One week every other year, restaurants across the city showcase their best upcycled-ingredient dishes and drinks and tell great stories about the magic they’ve conjured. During RescueDishDC, you’ll encounter everything from carrot greens to ricotta made from leftover milk in a barista’s steamer pitcher.

RescueDishDC 2019 went from July 13-20! Thanks to everyone who prepared and ate fantastic, sustainable food! More about their heroic dishes here.

TrashHumans happy hour at Hank’s Cocktail Bar

evenings out

Join us on Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 for a happy hour at ANXO Cidery & Pintxos Bar in DC’s Shaw neighborhood. ANXO is preparing a special menu of upcycled dishes and drinks. This happy hour is part of a slate of food-waste-fighting events—dubbed DC Food Recovery Week—Oct. 19 - 26. Join us for ciderhouse punch, rescue croquettas and great conversation with others who care about reducing food waste. Registration is recommended, but not required, do so here.

Also make sure to check out the full list of DC Food Recovery Week events.

We regularly head to a restaurants with great sustainability stories. Sometimes a chef speaks about maintaining a sustainable kitchen. Other times we just have a simple happy hour after work. Still other times, we might do something entirely different—check back for details on an upcoming cocktail hour and photo show!

Contact us and we’ll send you an invite next time we’re headed out.
