RescueDish is back!

Exciting news! RescueDish is back in action!

During the pandemic, as our restaurant friends switched to survival mode, we put our own operations on pause. But now, as the world is opening up, and as we’re all contemplating what this brave, new, post-vaccine world will look like, we’re planning a slate of content and events that combine the two things we love: creative dining and food waste reduction. As usual, our goal is fun dining experiences that model how anyone--chef or home cook--can make great food while maximizing every morsel.

As our world has gone increasingly virtual, we’re planning a new focus on content. Look for more Q&A’s with restaurant managers and chefs about how new and fantastic taste experiences can be found by looking to the overlooked (check out past Q&As with ANXO, Harper Macaw and ReGrained). And look out for recipes you can try at home too!

We’re also thrilled to announce that we’re teaming up with the DC Department of Small & Local Business Development and the DC Food Matters project with NRDC. Together, they are exploring various options to reduce food waste from restaurants and promote local businesses working in this area, including public-facing events, staff trainings, and infrastructure grants.

What kind of events, you ask? That’s something we’re still working out. In the past, RescueDish’s flagship event was a week in which restaurants featured special “RescueDishes” and “RescueDrinks” on their menus. We are working with DSLBD to see if it will be feasible to put on another such week. The department may also plan other RescueDish-themed promotions.

Whether you're a restaurateur or a restaurant fanatic, we want to hear about dining experiences that feature fun, innovative fare while stretching every ingredient. We welcome your ideas of one-off events, or simply your stories of food waste reduction that we can share on our website and social media platforms. Always get in touch at RescueDish@gmail.com

We can’t wait to dine with you--in person and virtually--in the coming months!

Cheers!
